History and Process of Soap
Soap making is a very precise scientific process called saponofication. All ingredients must be carefully measured. There is no wasted product. "Saponification is a chemical reaction during which soap is formed from fats. The term saponification comes from the Latin sapo, meaning “soap.” The soap produced during saponification is an organic salt. Saponification is an important type of chemical reaction that can occur between different types of fats and alkaline, or base, materials. This reaction helps people produce soap that is used for personal care and household products. The chemical reaction that takes place is a form of hydrolysis, which happens when water breaks chemical bonds" (Mohn, E. 2023)
The Packaging is Sustainable
The organza bags I use to package the soap are useful as a soap bag to use while washing and work well for exfoliating and polishing skin. This was a fun discovery made by my daughter who has been an amazing person to exchange ideas with for my soap making.
History of the company
I started as a soapmaker in 1996 with many, many experiments. I experimented on myself with every formula I created. Family and friends also used my soaps and came back with their reviews and suggestions. I was ambitious to try everything I loved in handcrafted soap. I experimented with different essential oils, different herbs, roots, clays and resins until I developed the perfect balance in each of my creations. The highest compliment was from my Grandma, who inspired me to be a soap maker, and who loved the Oat Bars and said it was such a good soap, she liked using it to wash her hair. Today, my collection of products are tried and true over many years and remain the cornerstone of my creative energy. Please direct any questions or reviews via the contact page on this website.
